MIRI: A driver escaped with minor injuries after the car he drove overturned in a single-vehicle crash in Niah here yesterday afternoon.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokeperson, the incident occurred at Kampung Bukit Bom along Jalan Sepupuk at about 2:36 pm.
Firefighters from the Batu Niah station arrived at the scene seven minutes later and found the Perodua Axia lying on its side, about five metres off the road.
The sole occupant had managed to get out of the vehicle before emergency crew arrived. Officials confirmed the driver was not trapped and suffered only light injuries.
No rescue operation was required. The incident was brought under control at 3 pm, with operations concluding at 3.15 pm.
Five personnel and one fire engine were deployed. Firefighters monitored the situation to ensure the area was safe before leaving the scene.
The cause of the crash has not been disclosed.
