SIBU: A local man was injured after the car he was driving plunged into a roadside drain along Jalan Tanjung Kunyit here today (Apr 28).
The accident involved a Perodua Axia, with the 43-year-old driver found trapped inside the vehicle when rescuers arrived.
Firefighters from Sibu central station were dispatched to the scene, about 20km away, following a distress call at 10.26 am.
Upon arrival, they extricated the victim and handed him over to paramedics for initial treatment.
The man sustained injuries to his leg before being taken to Sibu Hospital for further care.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 11.25 am.
