SRI AMAN: A 28-year-old man died after the sedan he was driving skidded and plunged into a drain near the traffic light junction at Jalan Hollis here late Thursday (Jun 18) night.
The victim, identified as Jeffry Emparang Johnson, was found unconscious inside the vehicle following the single-vehicle accident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a distress call was received at 11.07 pm, prompting personnel from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Sri Aman) to be dispatched to the scene.
The rescue team arrived two minutes later and found the sedan had veered off the road and landed in a drain.
Firefighters used a stretcher and webbing rope to extricate the victim from the vehicle by lifting him out safely.
After the victim was removed, medical personnel conducted an assessment and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and further action. The operation concluded at 12.03 am.
