KUCHING: A male driver and a female passenger sustained injuries in separate accidents last night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received emergency calls regarding the accidents at 10.27 pm and 1.30 am.

The first accident, involving a Perodua Viva and a Proton Saga, occurred along Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui and firefighters from Padungan station were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the a 43-year-old woman trapped in the front passenger seat of the Viva and extrication works were carried out to free her.

Once freed, the injured victim was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment. The drivers, aged 36 and 50, escaped unscathed.

In the second accident, a Perodua Axia crashed to the roadside along Jalan Pelabuhan.

Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station found the driver, in his 30s, trapped inside and rescued him from the wrecked vehicle.

The victim was later transported to SGH for further medical attention.

Once the situations were deemed safe, the team ended both operations at 11.13 pm and 2.10 am respectively.
