KUALA LUMPUR: A 66-year-old personal driver from Kuala Lumpur won RM23.95 million in the Supreme Toto 6/58 Jackpot in draw 6177/26 on Aug 29, after betting on numbers inspired by his family.
The winning ticket, purchased in Negri Sembilan, carried the numbers 3, 5, 6, 10, 20 and 42, which held special meanings for the winner.
A regular Sports Toto player for the past 10 years, the winner had been using the same set of numbers for many years, with occasional changes.
He said number three represented his three children, five represented the five members of his immediate family, while six represented his six grandchildren.
Numbers 10 and 20 corresponded to his wedding date, Oct 20, while 42 represented the number of years he had been married.
He said he changed one of his numbers from five to six after welcoming his sixth grandchild this year.
“I had to change one of the numbers from 5 to 6 when I got my sixth grandchild this year. He is the one who delivered the wealth to me,” he said.
The winner said he was having dinner when he saw the winning numbers and asked his daughter to verify the result through the Toto Mobile App.
“When I saw the numbers while having dinner, I immediately stopped eating and asked my daughter to check the result for me. She quickly downloaded the Toto Mobile App to verify the ticket,” he said.
His daughter subsequently scanned the ticket and confirmed that it was the jackpot-winning ticket worth RM23,945,954.40.
The winner said he planned to use part of the winnings to settle outstanding loans and debts among his family members, while saving the remainder for his retirement.
