KUCHING: Narcotics police arrested two locals for allegedly possessing drugs worth more than RM1,000 in two separate raids around the city.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the raids were carried out on Thursday (May 5).
Drugs believed to be syabu, weighing 15.75g, were seized from both men.
“The first arrest was carried out around 11am where five plastic packets containing 5.13g of drugs and valued at RM513, were seized from the first suspect.
“Later in the evening, at around 6.55pm, police arrested the second suspect and seized a plastic packet containing 10.62g of drugs with a market value of RM1,062,” he said.
The suspects were taken to the police station for questioning. Background checks found that one of them had a past record.
The suspects are detained under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a jail term of up to five years and whipping up to nine lashes, if convicted.
