LUNDU: Eight villages in the Opar state constituency are set to benefit from improved water supply following the launch of the Gravity Water Pipe System Project under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) initiative on October 22, 2025.
Opar assemblyman, Billy Sujang, said access to clean water remains a top priority for rural communities to ensure that they are not left behind in the state’s development.
“Clean water is essential not only for daily comfort but also for the well-being of the people. With close coordination between GKCDA, the Department of Rural Water Supply (JBALB) and contractors, we aim to provide every community with equal and quality facilities,” he said at the official project site handover on Wednesday.
The project covers five villages in Bitokan Zone – Kampung Tanjam/Opek, Kampung Jampari, Kampung Semapu, Kampung Sebiris and Kampung Bagak – and three in Stenggang Zone – Kampung Stenggang, Kampung Bitokan and Kampung Judin – with a total investment exceeding RM3.4 million.
