BAU: A 63-year-old man was seriously injured after he was struck by an unidentified vehicle in a hit-and-run incident near Fairy Cave early yesterday morning (Aug 23).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the incident occurred at around 2.30am along KM8.5, Jalan Bau-Krokong.
“The victim was walking home with his wife when a vehicle approaching from behind suddenly hit him.
“The vehicle, whose type and registration number have yet to be identified, struck the victim who was walking ahead of his wife,” he said.
He stated that the impact flung the victim onto the left side of the road, leaving him with serious injuries to his head, body and left leg.
The victim was initially rushed to Bau Hospital before being referred to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
Mohd Haide said efforts are underway to trace any witnesses and identify the vehicle involved.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
