BAU: A recently released ex-convict was arrested for allegedly threatening his younger sibling with a meat cleaver during a heated dispute last Sunday (May 3).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the 35-year-old was detained following a police report lodged yesterday (May 6) over the incident.
Also seized was the meat cleaver allegedly used during the incident.
“Initial investigations found that the incident, which occurred at 12am in Kampung Lidah Tanah, Jalan Batu Kitang, was believed to have stemmed from the complainant reprimanding him for making noise inside the house.
“The suspect allegedly became enraged before brandishing a meat cleaver and issuing threats, causing the complainant to fear for their safety.
“Further checks found that the suspect, who is the complainant’s elder brother, has a previous record related to drugs and had only recently been released from prison,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Meanwhile, Mohd Haide advised the public to control their emotions and resolve disputes wisely to avoid incidents that could threaten the safety of others.
