KUALA LUMPUR: Young students from the Sarawak Students Association of Universiti Malaya (PMSUM) have been urged to be bold, believe in their potential and make an impact in shaping Sarawak’s future.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof delivered the message after hosting a luncheon with 32 students who paid a courtesy call on him at Parliament on Monday (Dec 1).
The group, led by Ilman Mohd Azlan Jayasilan, comprised first-, second- and third-year students from programmes such as Law, Engineering, Finance and Economics, Islamic Studies, Syariah, History, English and Actuarial Science.
The Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation and Petra Jaya MP encouraged them to push beyond familiar boundaries and embrace challenges that will shape their future.
“In addition, they were told that courage, initiative and the willingness to make difficult decisions are essential traits for young Sarawakians who aspire to make an impact.
“The rapidly changing world offers opportunities to those who create them, not those who wait.
“As such, students should never underestimate their abilities, as their confidence and readiness to act will determine how far they progress,” he said in a Facebook post.
Fadillah expressed hope that the engagement would strengthen their resolve to move forward with greater ambition and clarity, and to continue carrying Sarawak’s name with pride wherever they go.
Also present were Works Minister and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and Igan MP and Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) chairman Ahmad Johnie Zawawi.
