KUCHING: The newly launched Farley Security Post (Pondok Polis) is set to strengthen proactive policing under the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Safe Community Programme.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said the post would not only function as a security monitoring point but also serve as an information hub and direct communication channel between the police and the public.
“It will be a platform to coordinate joint patrols involving the police, Malaysia Volunteers Corps Department (RELA), neighbourhood watch association and community volunteers, bringing the police closer to the people they serve,” he said when officiating the opening of the fourth Farley Security Post at Farley Kuching here today (Sept 15).
Mancha stressed that the collaboration between PDRM and Farley Group reflected the crucial role of the private sector in strengthening public safety.
“Farley is not only active in the business sector but is also fulfilling its social responsibility by helping the community.
“This partnership shows how the ‘whole-of-society’ approach can work in preventing crime,” he said.
He said the Safe Community Programme aims to empower communities to take part in safeguarding their own neighbourhoods, while fostering closer ties with the police and creating safe, harmonious and sustainable surroundings.
Mancha also urged local residents to make full use of the new post, stay engaged with PDRM by reporting suspicious activities and emulate the collaboration model between PDRM and Farley.
“To PDRM personnel, especially at Kuching District Police Headquarters, please continue improving service quality and openness in engaging with the public,” he added.
For the record, Farley Security Post is a CSR project that has been erected with the purpose of providing a safer environment for the public.
