BETONG: A septuagenarian who was reported missing in a forest near Sungai Pengerit in Layar, here was found safe but in a weak state today.

Betong fire chief Vincent Baling said in a statement the female victim, Singar Dunggou, 75, who was conscious but in a weak state, was found around 3.15pm.

“The fire and rescue department’s K9 unit found the victim on a hill, about 300 metres from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.

“Singar, who suffered minor scratches on her body, was taken to the control post for initial treatment before she was taken to Betong Hospital,” he said.

The operation was then called off at 4pm after the victim was found and taken to the hospital.

Earlier, Singar was reported missing by her family members yesterday after failing to return home from her farm.

Rescue agencies consisting of Betong fire station, Civil Defence Force (APM) and the police then launched a search operation to locate the missing victim.
