BINTANGOR: The financial aid provided by Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar aims to assist mosques and surau committees carry out various programmes that will benefit their local communities.
The donation totalling RM85,000 was distributed by Asfia to various mosques and suraus in the Sarikei district during the event at Dewan Dayang Bai, Bintangor, on Saturday.
“Each of the five mosques received RM10,000, and seven suraus were each given RM5,000. Additionally, the Sarikei Islamic Welfare and Trust Board (Lakisri) was also a recipient of the donations.” he said.
He added that this initiative highlights the commitment to promoting religious and community development in the region.
“I hope that these religious institutions will act as centres for bringing the Muslim community together and fostering a stronger sense of brotherhood among its members,” he said.
Also present were his wife, Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar, Tanjong Manis MP Ir. Yusuf Abd Wahab, and Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing’s representative, Pemanca Yii Hie Sieng.
