SEBUYAU: A house along Jalan Sawmill here was destroyed in a fire on Thursday afternoon.
A team from the Simunjan Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 2.10 pm.
The location was about 60km from the station, and firefighters arrived at 3.14 pm to find the permanent-structure house already engulfed in flames.
the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said no injuries were reported, as all the occupants managed to escape safely before the fire spread.
“The estimated size of the house affected was 50 by 30 feet, and firefighters used a 200-foot hose line and a nozzle, with water sourced from the fire engine’s pump and a nearby hydrant,” the department said.
After conducting overhaul work and ensuring the area was safe, the team returned to the station.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
