MIRI: Firefighters worked late into Wednesday (May 27) night to clear a massive fallen tree that blocked Jalan Kuala Baram Lama, leaving the road temporarily impassable to motorists.
The incident was reported at 10.04pm, prompting the deployment of a team from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, the tree had collapsed across the roadway, completely obstructing traffic along the route.
A fire engine carrying five personnel arrived at the scene minutes later and began cutting up the tree using chainsaws before removing the debris from the road.
“The operation focused on reopening the road safely and preventing further danger to motorists,” the department said.
The clearance operation was completed at 11.35pm, with traffic flow fully restored shortly afterwards.
No injuries or damage to vehicles were reported.
Personnel from Sarawak Energy Berhad were also present at the scene to monitor the area during the operation.
The incident occurred about three kilometres from the Lutong fire station.
