KUCHING: Festive cheer and heartfelt gratitude filled the Padungan fire and rescue station recently as members of Trinity Methodist Church (TMC), Jalan Ellis, visited for their annual Christmas carolling.

The visit, now a cherished tradition since 2023, brought smiles and warmth to firefighters on duty, offering a moment of celebration amid their demanding roles.

Padungan fire and rescue station chief Tan Min Chai said the gesture is a meaningful way for the community to acknowledge the firefighters’ dedication and sacrifices in serving and protecting the public.

“The church and community’s visit mean a lot to our team on duty. It serves as a reminder and recognition from the community for the dedication and service of our firefighters in carrying out rescue and firefighting duties.

“The carolling tradition not only celebrates the upcoming Christmas season but also strengthens bonds and harmony within Sarawak’s diverse communities,” he said.

Beyond the music, the event spreads joy, kindness, and a sense of togetherness, providing comfort to firefighters who may miss spending Christmas with family due to service obligations.

He stated that it is a small gesture that lifts spirits and reminds our team that the spirit of community care is alive and well.
