NIAH: Heavy downpour since Wednesday evening left a house in Rumah Agan Nuuh, inundated with floodwaters reaching knee level.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Batu Niah station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.05 pm to assist in pumping out the water.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that floodwaters have risen to about two feet inside the house.

Employed with a portable pump, the team worked to drain the water through the kitchen.

It was understood that only a house, located in a low-lying area opposite St Giles Church, was affected. The flooding was attributed to continuous heavy rain since 4 pm and an unsystematic drainage system.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 9.20 pm and returned to their station.
