MIRI: Firefighters isolated the main power supply to a house here after an electrical distribution box caught fire early today (Aug 21), with the occupants extinguishing the blaze before emergency crews arrived.
The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call at about 2.59 am over the fire at Lot 8085, Jalan Dato Permaisuri 1B, Taman Permai.
A team from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station arrived 13 minutes later and found that the fire involving the electrical distribution box had already been extinguished by the occupants.
Firefighters then carried out an assessment of the scene and disconnected the main fuse as a safety precaution.
They also checked the surrounding area and obtained information from the occupants. No further signs of fire were detected during the inspection.
The operations were brought to an end at 3.29 am, about 30 minutes after the crew arrived. The team returned to the station at 3.47 am.
Two SESCo personnel also attended to the scene.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
