BINTULU: Firefighters were rushed to a timber processing factory along the Bintulu-Sibu Road on Wednesday morning after a boiler caught fire outside the facility.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department was alerted at 10.15am and a team from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene, located about 17 kilometres from the station.
According to the department, the firefighters who arrived at 10.33am swiftly prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures and equipment.
A total of seven firefighters took part in the operation, supported by one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
The operation was led by PBK II Mohd Syukri Abdullah.
No casualties were reported at the time of writing and the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the boiler have yet to be determined.
The department said monitoring and extinguishing works were being carried out to ensure the fire was fully contained and posed no further risk to the factory premises.
