MIRI: A total 1,300 students aged 16 to 17 from four schools within Subis district on Saturday (Sept 11) received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
They are from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bekenu, SMK Subis, SMK Luar Bandar Miri and SMK Suai.
Vaccinations were carried out at two centres — Dewan Masyarakat Bekenu and Dewan Masyarakat Sepupok.
Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus who is also Assistant Minister for Women, Family and Childhood Development was present to observe the programme which started around 8.30am.
Most of the students were accompanied by their parents or guardians.
For school dropouts aged 16 to 17, village chiefs are required to identify them and submit their names to Subis district to get them vaccinated.
