KUCHING: An annual festive community programme in the Satok area continues to foster harmony and strengthen ties among residents of different backgrounds.
Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the programme is organised every year particularly to celebrate major festive occasions such as Christmas and New Year celebrations
“As part of the programme, we hand out biscuits as a token of remembrance and to share joy with the community,” he said when met during the programme at an eatery here today (Dec 20).

He added the programme serves as an important platform to observe and maintain close relationships within the community.
“As a representative, we want to see how the community is developing and whether the bond among the people remains strong.
“We interact with residents daily, visit shops and engage with the public to ensure that these relationships are preserved,” he said.
“We want the people, especially in Satok, to live happily, peacefully and in harmony as well as in the spirit of unity in diversity,” he added.
He also extended his Christmas greetings to those celebrating.
“I would like to wish everyone celebrating Christmas a joyful celebration. May we continue to uphold strong relationships, mutual understanding and togetherness as the people of Sarawak,” he said.
The programme, which has been organised since around 2017 or earlier, has become a long-standing tradition. Ibrahim noted the positive response from the community, saying it reflects the joy and unity among Sarawakians.
“The smiles and warm reception clearly reflect the joy felt by the people,” he said.
