LUBOK ANTU: Four foreigners, including a woman, were arrested after attempting to evade a police roadblock during an integrated crime prevention operation in Engkilili yesterday (May 6).
The suspects were detained after police noticed a suspicious vehicle stopping near the roadblock, believed to be an attempt to avoid inspection at the roadblock under ‘Ops Pintas/Lejang’.

Further checks found that two of the male suspects and the woman did not have any valid travel document.
Police also seized the vehicle, and a phone belonging to a suspect believed to be a transporter for undocumented migrants.
The case is being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM) and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The operation, led by Lubok Antu Internal Security and Public Order Division chief Insp Lion Bagih, involved 20 officers and personnel of various ranks.
It was carried out to curb index crime, drug activities, gambling and vice, while enhancing police presence in hotspot areas.
Throughout the five-hour operation, police inspected a total of 115 vehicles and 125 individuals, while 19 traffic summonses were issued for various offences.
Lubok Antu police said enforcement operations would continue to ensure public safety and maintain order in the district.
