MIRI: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri branch, here is offering free books on dyslexia for those with dyslexic children.

To get the free books, all they have to do is to register as Pustaka member.

According to a spokesperson of the Sarawak Library Miri at Jalan Kipas here, they are giving those books for free to parents with dyslexic children or having dyslexia themselves and this requires them to be a member of Pustaka first to be eligible for the books.

The books were launched by Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah during the Sarawak Authors Festival on August 29 this year.

It was written by a local author, Mary Anne Vaz to increase and enhance understanding of our local content materials.

These additional collections of Pustaka publications are tribal friendly books and are towards enhancing understanding of dyslexia.

These books were specially written for the dyslexic and tribal readers with a special type of font and size to enable easier reading to its targeted readers.

Mary Anne specifically wrote these books to help readers who have visual stress and for dyslexic readers to enjoy reading.

Pustaka gives priority of giving those books for free to parents with dyslexic children or having dyslexia themselves and requires them to be members of Pustaka first to be eligible for the books.

Pustaka has donated those books to the Dyslexia Association of Sarawak, State Libraries, and major academic libraries throughout Malaysia.

Currently, they have 300 copies for every three titles of the book.

Those interested can call up Pustaka Miri liaison officers Ahmad Samsudin (ahmads1@sarawak.gov.my) or Muhammad Annwar Adenan (annwar2@sarawak.gov.m) or at 085-422525.
