PARIS, France: Nine-times French football champions, Olympique Marseille, have been the victims of a cyberattack, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
A statement on the club’s website on Tuesday said the situation was quickly brought under control thanks to the immediate intervention of technical teams and specialist service providers.
“To date, all our activities are continuing as normal and in complete security, and we are continuing our investigations into the scope of the incident. The club would like to reassure its supporters that no banking details or passwords have been compromised,” it said.
It is unclear who is behind the attack. The fourth-placed team in Ligue 1 merely referred to a resurgence of national and international attacks on large organisations.
Marseille appealed to fans to ensure their own digital security by using strong passwords and remaining vigilant against phishing attacks. -BERNAMA-dpa
