KUCHING: A local entertainment outlet owner and two foreign workers were arrested after a premises along Jalan Tabuan here was found operating beyond permitted hours.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the inspection was carried out by a police team at about 2.40am on Saturday (May 23) following information received and monitoring by authorities.
He said the premises was found still operating past the allowed time during the inspection.
“A local man in his 50s believed to be the owner of the premises was detained together with two Indonesian nationals aged 20 and 22 who were working there to assist investigations,” he said in a statement.
Police also seized several items used for the operation of the premises.
Initial urine screening tests on all three detainees came back negative for drugs, while checks found none had previous criminal records.
The case is being investigated under Section 24 of the Entertainment Ordinance 2001.
The two Indonesian nationals are also being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce valid travel documents or passes to remain in Malaysia.
