MIRI: A 43-year-old man died in a car fire at Miri-Bintulu road near Simpang Entulang here yesterday.

His mother who was a passenger in the car, fortunately, survived the horrific blaze.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, eight emergency crew members from Lopeng Fire station led by PBK II Ellai Bidang rushed to the scene at 12.57pm after a car reportedly caught fire on the side of the road.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames.

The deceased has been identified as Anderson Gumbang, who was attached to the 12th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) in Miri. The victim is believed to have suffered from a heart attack while driving.
