KUCHING: The Sarawak Government is in the process of appointing chief transformation officers (CTOs) in every ministry to enhance the implementation of transformation and innovation initiatives within the civil service.
Deputy State Secretary (Operations), Datuk Hii Chang Kee said the appointments will start with the Sarawak Premier’s Department and will later be extended to other state government agencies.
“We are in the process of appointing CTOs in ministries, starting with the Sarawak Premier’s Department first and then expanding to other agencies,” he said at the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) 2025 Synergy dinner, here on Tuesday.
He said that in 2025, STIU had implemented various high-impact initiatives to strengthen the culture of innovation and governance in the state’s public service.
Among them were the organising of One Team Retreat (OTR) in Singapore to strengthen the spirit of leadership and collaboration, as well as the implementation of the Sarawak Civil Service Quality Award (AKPANS) as a platform to recognise the excellence of government departments and agencies.
In addition, the Key Focus Area (KFA) 2.0 initiative also focuses on strengthening Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) and Ease of Doing Business (EODB) practices by emphasising the reduction of bureaucratic red tape, reviewing work processes and regulations to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the state administration.
