BETONG: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, arrived here on Saturday to attend the Thanksgiving Ceremony held in conjunction with the 17th Official Birthday Celebration of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at state-level for 2026.
Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, Betong MP Datuk Richard Rapu, and Betong Resident Datuk Richard Michael Abunawas.
The thanksgiving ceremony took place at the Masjid Jamek Betong last night (Saturday) and bringing together community leaders and local residents in a spirit of gratitude, unity and togetherness.
On Sunday, Wan Junaidi is scheduled to officiate the Majlis Jamuan Teh at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall, one of the main events of this year’s Sarawak-level celebration.
Wan Junaidi’s presence in Betong marks the commencement of the official programme for the celebration, with the division serving as the focal point of the two-day event.
