KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the Sarawak state-level Warriors’ Day 2026 celebration held at Dataran Perayaan, Petra Jaya today.
Upon arrival at the venue at 7:35 am, the couple was greeted by First Infantry Division Commander, Major General Mohd Sobirin Mohd Yusof, and Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, along with their respective wives.
The First Infantry Division of the Malaysian Army, as the main organiser, in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent, held the Parade Ceremony in conjunction with the 2026 Warriors’ Day celebration.
The ceremony involved the participation of the Malaysian Army, the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans, PDRM personnel, and retired police personnel.
The parade contingent comprised 460 personnel, including the 20th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD), which was accorded the honour of mounting the Main Guard of Honour, accompanied by the PDRM Sarawak Contingent Band.
The main ceremony commenced with the Royal Salute and an inspection of the Main Guard of Honour by Wan Junaidi, followed by the singing of the national anthem, ‘Negaraku’.
The solemn ceremony continued with the ‘Last Post’ bugle call, choir performances, the screening of the Warriors’ Video Montage, and a poetry recital.
It also featured the introduction of Sarawakians who had been awarded the Panglima Gagah Berani (PGB) Medal, followed by the ‘Rouse’ bugle call and a prayer recitation.
After the ceremony, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah visited the army and police exhibitions located near the venue.
Wan Junaidi inspected military hardware and equipment, including weaponry and survival skills demonstrations, as explained by army personnel.
The police exhibition also received a visit from Wan Junaidi and his wife before they concluded their engagement with military and police personnel in conjunction with Warriors’ Day.
