BETONG: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, spent their Sunday morning mingling with local traders and residents at the Betong Tamu market, underscoring their support for grassroots entrepreneurs and community-driven economic activities.
Arriving at about 7 am, the couple received a warm welcome from vendors and visitors, many of whom seized the opportunity to greet them personally and capture memorable photographs.
During the visit, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah toured the bustling market and purchased a number of items from local traders, a gesture seen as encouragement for small businesses and the local economy.
Following the market visit, they joined members of the public for breakfast at the Bumiputera food stalls operated under the Betong District Council (MDB), enjoying a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with the community.
The visit formed part of the programme for the Sarawak-level celebration of the Official Birthday of His Majesty the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, currently being held in Betong.
