SUNGAI PETANI, Kedah: One person died and three others were injured in an explosion of a helium gas cylinder at an expo site near a supermarket near here on Thursday.
Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Station’s (BBP) head, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Siti Norafiza Mohd Noh, said her department received a call via the NG 999 system at 7:52 pm on Wednesday night.
“The explosion is believed to involve a unit of helium gas cylinder used to fill balloons.
“So far, a 42-year-old man has been reported dead while three other victims, including a 15-year-old boy, have been reported injured,” she said in a statement on Thursday.
As the operations are still ongoing at the location, the number of injured victims may rise further. – BERNAMA
