KUCHING: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) has expressed satisfaction over the Bidayuh Cultural Centre (BCC) project’s quality and completion.
Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said DBNA was pleased with the workmanship and delivery of the facility in Bau, a landmark RM9-million project funded by the Sarawak government under the Projek Rakyat initiative.
Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, said the facility had been fully completed and officially handed over to DBNA.
“DBNA is happy with the work quality and the completion schedule of the project.
“Since this building belongs to DBNA, I have checked with them and they said they are quite happy with the works.
“I should listen to the association because this building is for them,” he said after the Bau GawaiParade recently.
Henry said his role as an elected representative was to work closely with the Sarawak government in securing the necessary funding for the project.
The BCC is set to be officially launched by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri AbangJohari Tun Openg on Jun 22.
The centre is expected to become a major cultural and community landmark for the Bidayuhcommunity while contributing to the Bau district’s socioeconomic growth.
Designed as both a cultural symbol and a functional venue, the facility features a grand hall capable of accommodating more than 1,000 people or about 100 tables.
Other facilities include a canteen, meeting room, exhibition and gallery spaces, as well as a Barukthat serves as the centre’s iconic architectural feature reflecting Bidayuh heritage and identity.
The centre will be managed by the DBNA and is expected to host a wide range of cultural, social and community-based events.
The project is also seen as an important step in preserving and promoting Bidayuh culture while providing a modern and well-equipped venue for gatherings, celebrations and exhibitions in Bau.
