BAU: More than 300 guests from various backgrounds gathered at the Gawai Dayak open house hosted by Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep yesterday (June 1).

The celebration was marked by a festive atmosphere and a strong spirit of togetherness as guests from different communities came together to commemorate one of Sarawak’s most important cultural festivals.

Among those in attendance were Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, the Consul General of Indonesia in Kuching, community leaders, close friends, relatives and members of the public.

The gathering provided an opportunity for guests to strengthen friendships, foster closer ties and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Dayak community in a warm and welcoming setting.

Beyond celebrating Gawai, the event also reflected the importance of preserving unity, harmony and mutual respect among Sarawak’s diverse communities.

The Tasik Biru assemblyman thanked all guests for taking the time to attend and contribute to the success of this year’s celebration.
