MIRI: Four hikers endured an anxious ordeal after one of them nearly fainted from exhaustion while trekking at Lambir Hills National Park yesterday (May 16).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the group comprised a man and three women, aged between 33 and 35.
One of the women reportedly became severely fatigued and almost lost consciousness while making her way down from the hill.
Firefighters from Miri station were dispatched to the scene, about 36km away, following a distress call at 4.30pm.
The team, assisted by park rangers, trekked into the area and safely escorted all four victims out of the jungle terrain.
They were later handed over to paramedics for further assessment.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the rescue operation at 9.50pm.
