BAU: A house in Kampung Apar here was found broken into, with electrical cables cut and stolen in a suspected break-in discovered on Friday (Apr 18).

The incident came to light when the homeowner, a 61-year-old man, returned to his house along Jalan Kuong/Segong and found that parts of the electrical wiring had been cut and removed.

Further checks found that the intruder is believed to have gained entry through a bedroom window, where the glass panel had been removed and the metal grille cut.

It was reported that the homeowner had last left the house the day before. The estimated loss is about RM100.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said no suspects have been identified and efforts are underway.

Initial investigations indicate that the suspect entered by prying open the window before cutting and taking the electrical cables.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.
