BINTANGOR: Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has allocated Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds to upgrade and rehabilitate ageing village roads.
The priority locations are Jalan Muhibah; Jalan Bunga Raya, Bintangor; Jalan Madble East, Sungai Meradong; Jalan Wong Siew Kiat, Sungai Meradong; Jalan Chi Yung; Lorong 1, Jalan Hua Kiew; Jalan Ong Dian; Jalan Chai Teck, Batu 6, Kelupu; Jalan Sing Hua, Sungai Bakong; and Jalan Rumah Murieng anak Kri, Kutak, Ulu Bakong.
Site inspections were made at all ten locations by Wong Soon Mee, who represented Huang, who is Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.
Wong was accompanied by the Service Centre team and assistant engineer from the Meradong and Julau District Councils (MDMJ).
The field visit assessed current road conditions and helped establish staggered upgrades in line with need and urgency.
“These projects are vital to strengthening the rural road network that connects villages to the main towns,” said Huang.
“The government remains committed to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind by development.
“Through the RTP, we are not only repairing damaged roads, but also improving the quality of life for local residents by providing smoother and safer transport access.”
He said better roads would reduce travel time and costs, open up market access and make it easier for families to reach schools, clinics and public services.
