KUCHING: Legendary Iban singer Jenny Tan passed away yesterday (Apr 6) at 10.40pm, a loss for the Dayak music and entertainment industry in Sarawak.
Her passing is a great loss to the industry and left a profound impact on fans, fellow artists, and the wider community who have appreciated her work and voice.
Her remains were brought to her residence at Batu 9, Kuching, to allow family members and friends to pay their final respects.
Apart from being a singer, Tan was also a composer, music producer, and entrepreneur in the Dayak music industry in the state.
She had also produced Iban telemovies under Syarikat Rakaman Golden Pearl (GPRS).
In addition to singing, she was actively involved in the creation and development of Iban songs, as well as operating a recording studio and music-related businesses, including a CD shop and a studio that produced Iban music albums.
Throughout her career, Tan frequently produced songs that highlighted cultural elements, the lives of the Dayak community, themes of love, and traditional celebrations such as Gawai Dayak.
Her artistic legacy will always be remembered and appreciated for generations to come. Among the famous songs known by all are Ai Embun Pagi, Lelaki, Aram Sama Tua Sepadu, Dara Merati and others.
