KUCHING: A routine inspection by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Resident Councillor for Zone 7 (Batu Kawah), Gary Yeo, has led to immediate follow-up action on several maintenance concerns raised by residents.
Conducted together with council officers, the inspection aimed to assess the condition of public facilities and municipal services within Batu Kawah, ensuring local infrastructure remains functional and well maintained.
Yeo said the council remains committed to addressing issues affecting residents’ quality of life and ensuring prompt corrective measures are implemented.
“The council takes municipal services seriously as they directly affect the living environment and wellbeing of residents.
“Such situations are not acceptable and I have informed the MPP chairman of the matter and instructed the relevant officers to investigate immediately and ensure that the necessary corrective actions are taken without delay,” he said in a press statement on Wednesday (June 24).
During the inspection, public facilities and municipal services were found to be generally well-maintained.
However, overgrown grass was observed along sections of earth drains at Jalan Kim Su Sin.
Yeo was also approached by residents of Jalan Kim Phang, who requested excavation works on an earth drain in their neighbourhood.
Following the complaints, council officers were instructed to inspect both locations and coordinate the necessary maintenance works.
He encouraged residents to continue providing feedback and reporting maintenance issues in their neighbourhoods, stressing that public cooperation plays an important role in enabling the council to respond effectively.
“I will continue to monitor the situation closely and work together with the relevant parties to ensure the area remains clean, safe and well maintained,” he said.
Residents in Batu Kawah and the Datuk Stephen Yong Road areas may contact their respective resident councillors to report local municipal issues and obtain assistance regarding community concerns.
