BINTANGOR: The values of gratitude and sacrifice must be firmly instilled in the younger generation to build a morally resilient society, said Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.

Ding delivers his speech.

He noted that appreciation goes beyond mere emotion.

It is a conscious and sincere act, best expressed through actions that recognise and honour the kindness of others.

“Events like this are not just annual ceremonies but meaningful opportunities to reflect and cultivate a spirit of gratitude and respect, particularly towards parents and teachers who are the foundation of human development and social progress,” he said during the Majlis Sanjungan Budi event at SJKC Ming Chiang today.

He stressed the importance of upholding core values such as filial piety and respect for educators within the community.

“Children raised with grateful hearts grow into compassionate individuals, while students who show respect to their teachers embody the hopes of our future,” he added.

Ding further emphasised that society should not focus solely on economic advancement but must also prioritise the moral development and character of its youth.
