KUCHING: The Sarawak Government continues to closely monitor integrity related cases requiring disciplinary action, while stepping up efforts to strengthen accountability across the state civil service.
Deputy Sarawak State Secretary (Operations), Datuk Hii Chang Kee, said fewer than 10 such cases are currently being monitored in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He said the cases involve matters that did not result in prosecution but still require heads of departments to take disciplinary action.
“Cases are not that many, less than 10, but we are monitoring them,” he told reporters after the Sarawak Integrity Day 2026 press conference today and Baitulmakmur Building II.
Hii said another category of integrity related cases is tracked through the Auditor-General’s (AG) Dashboard, adding that the number of cases recorded on the platform has declined although some issues remain to be addressed.
“We are happy because the cases on the AG Dashboard have gone down, but we still have some cases to tackle,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNIONS) Director, Wan Mohamad Wan Drahman, said the AG Dashboard is an online platform that allows the public to access audit findings and observations on government agencies highlighted in the AG’s Report.
He said Sarawak has the highest number of Certified Integrity Officers (CIOs) in the country, with 206 officers deployed across ministries, departments, local authorities and other government agencies.
“The role of the CIOs is to cultivate a culture of integrity in every agency and assist heads of departments in strengthening integrity practices within their respective organisations,” he said.
Wan Mohamad said the officers serve as an important channel for promoting integrity throughout the state civil service, complementing initiatives such as the Sarawak Integrity Day celebration and other integrity programmes.
Hii added that the state government also works through public service unions, disciplinary mechanisms, and the Internal Audit Unit under the Sarawak Premier’s Department to uphold integrity across the public sector.
“We are doing our best to make sure that all these cases are resolved,” he said.
