KUCHING: A total of RM1.254 billion has been approved as of the first quarter of 2026 for projects under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA).
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, who is also IRSDA Steering Committee Chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said 512 out of 637 or 80 per cent planned projects have been completed.
He also said this reflects significant progress in development implementation in the Samarahan Division.
“In addition, 32 projects are currently under implementation, while 87 projects are at the planning stage. Six projects have been cancelled due to various factors, including overlapping alignments,” he said.
He said this when chairing the IRSDA Steering Committee Meeting No. 1/2026 held here on Wednesday (April 29) as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
Abdul Karim said RM236.13 million of the allocation involves projects still in the planning stage, while RM9.78 million constitutes IRSDA pool savings.
He stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and proactive measures by implementing agencies to ensure projects in the pipeline are expedited for the benefit of the people.
“Effective coordination is crucial to ensure every planned project can be implemented smoothly, and deliver maximum impact on development and community wellbeing,” he said.
Abdul Karim also encouraged more project handover ceremonies to be carried out by elected representatives in their respective constituencies to showcase the government’s development achievements.
During the meeting, a handover session was also held for the IRSDA Bulletin 2025 and the IRSDA Project List and Localities Book to elected representatives in the Samarahan Division.
The publication documents all 637 development projects implemented since the agency’s establishment, covering the parliamentary constituencies of Kota Samarahan, Batang Sadong and Batang Lupar.
