BINTULU: Jalan Tun Razak in Bintulu will be expanded from two lanes to four lanes as a short-term solution to address the traffic congestion in the area.
Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the four lanes are expected to be ready for use on Wednesday (June 26) by the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD).
“I believe that once the four lanes are fully open, it will help alleviate the traffic volume, including easing congestion during peak hours and significantly reducing the time everyone has to wait at the traffic lights,” he said in his Facebook post today.
He pointed out that the road facilities in that area are being upgraded and improved, including the installation of new traffic lights,
“I hope that the traffic situation will be smoother by then, saving everyone’s commuting time. Meanwhile, I would like to express my gratitude to PWD, the contractors, among others.
“Their joint efforts and efficient cooperation have allowed this public issue to be properly resolved,” he said.
