SIBU: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sibu reaffirmed its commitment to developing capable young leaders by organising the JCI Discover & Explore Training Session held here recently.
The intensive learning programme is designed to equip members with a deeper understanding of Junior Chamber International’s values, leadership framework, and opportunities for personal and organisational growth.
According to JCI Sibu president Elden Lau, the training served as an important milestone for both new and existing members, offering a comprehensive introduction to JCI’s mission, vision, organisational culture, and leadership development pathway.
Beyond familiarising participants with the organisation’s core principles, he said the programme encouraged members to recognise their role in driving sustainable impact within their communities through active participation and leadership.
Conducted in a dynamic and highly interactive environment, the session featured engaging discussions, practical sharing, and meaningful exchanges that enabled participants to better understand the journey of becoming effective leaders within JCI.
Members were also introduced to the wide range of opportunities available at the local, national, and international levels, empowering them to broaden their perspectives and maximise their potential within the global organisation.
The event was honoured by the presence of 2026 JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak chairperson Siew Young Ming, whose attendance underscored the importance of investing in leadership education as the cornerstone of a strong and sustainable organisation.
“His support highlighted the collective effort within JCI Malaysia to cultivate knowledgeable, confident, and service-driven young leaders,” Lau stated.
Adding further significance to the programme was the participation of the Local Presidents of JCI Sibujaya and JCI Sarikei, reflecting the spirit of unity and collaboration among JCI chapters across Sarawak.
Their presence, Lau said, provided members with valuable opportunities to strengthen inter-chapter relationships, exchange experiences, and foster greater cooperation for future initiatives.
As one of JCI Sibu’s key capacity-building programmes, he stressed that the training reflects the chapter’s ongoing emphasis on continuous learning as an essential component of leadership excellence.
“By investing in member education, JCI Sibu aims to nurture individuals who are not only equipped with leadership competencies but are also inspired to initiate meaningful projects and contribute positively to society.
“Through initiatives such as the JCI Discover & Explore Training Session, JCI Sibu continues to build a stronger foundation for future leaders, reinforcing its mission of empowering young active citizens to create lasting positive change while strengthening the organisation for generations to come,” Lau added.
