KUCHING: The ‘Jom Heboh’ infotainment carnival will return to Sarawak this year with two stops, making its debut in Kota Samarahan before heading to Miri.

Organised by Media Prima, the first leg of the 2026 roadshow will be held in Kota Samarahan from July 31 to August 2, marking the first time the event will take place there after previously being hosted at Dataran Perayaan in Petra Jaya.

The second Sarawak stop will be in Miri from September 25 to 27.

Preparations for the carnival were discussed during a courtesy call by a Media Prima delegation to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) today to explore potential strategic collaboration for the event.

“The delegation was led by ‘Jom Heboh’ Project Director, Eileen Lim; and comprised Project Manager, Hairi; Content and Local Relations Director, Bard Yusof; East Malaysia Regional and Government Senior Executive, (OMNIA) Venitia Samuel; and Technical Director, Azizulhelmy.

“They were received by UKAS Deputy Director, Mohamed Faizal Shah Ali, at the agency’s headquarters in the Baitul Makmur Building here,” UKAS said in a news report.

During the meeting, Media Prima shared its plans for the 2026 edition of ‘Jom Heboh’ and highlighted the importance of support from local media in ensuring publicity for the carnival reaches communities across Sarawak while strengthening existing cooperation with Ukas.

First introduced in 2003, ‘Jom Heboh’ is now in its 23rd year and will feature a range of attractions, including a food festival, e-sports tournament, mini zoo and live entertainment performances.

The organisers also expect the carnival to boost the local economy through the participation of entrepreneurs, small traders and members of the creative industry.

A ‘Jom Heboh’ Fun Run featuring 5km and 8km categories will also be held on August 2, making Sarawak the second location to host the programme.
