KAPIT: Infrastructure works under the Kampung Angkat Madani programme in Kapit are progressing well, with major components in two key locations nearing completion.
Kapit MP and Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the Kampung Angkat Madani project at Rumah Kiong has recorded encouraging progress, with electrical cable installation, ceiling works and other components already reaching about 50 per cent completion.
Meanwhile, the Nanga Engkuah project in Song is ahead of schedule, with the construction of an iron bridge and a covered walkway now close to 80 per cent finished.
“I am relieved and thankful to the Ministry of Works’ Corporate Planning Division, led by Uma Maniam, for going to the ground to observe and monitor the progress of the Kampung Angkat Madani programme in my parliamentary constituency,” Nanta said in a Facebook post.
The delegation also comprised two officers from the Ministry of Works, representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD) and several other relevant government agencies and departments.
He was confident that the projects would be completed as planned for the benefit of the communities involved.
“I hope that all projects under these two Kampung Angkat Madani initiatives will be completed according to the schedule and bring meaningful impact to the local residents,” he added.
Nationwide, a total of 43 Kampung Angkat Madani have been established under this government initiative, with an overall allocation of RM107 million.
Introduced under Budget 2024 and expanded through Budget 2025, the programme aims to bridge the development gap between urban and rural areas through the provision and upgrading of basic infrastructure.
Each selected village receives RM1 million in funding.
