KAPIT: Firefighters here were stretched to their limits this morning (Nov 27), responding to five landslides and soil erosion incidents across the district triggered by relentless heavy rain.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the incidents occurred at Rh William Ubu in Sungai Sut; Rh Jawa in Jalan Selirik; Tatai Kenyalang; Danau Sebabu in Jalan Bukit Goram; and Lorong 1 in Taman Bian Hua.
At Rh William Ubu, the scene was alarming as mud surged into the kitchens of six doors (pintu) of the longhouse.
Twenty-two residents from seven units were urged to evacuate amid fears of further landslides, and the team secured the area with hazard warning tape before moving on.
Over at Rh Jawa, the team reported that a landslide had left one kitchen pillar dangerously unstable. They advised three residents in the house to evacuate amid fears of further landslide.

In Tatai Kenyalang, a family of six was advised to steer clear of their kitchen, which was deemed unsafe after it was partially damaged by a landslide.
Meanwhile, soil erosion occurred behind three homes at Danau Sebabu, and another home in Taman Bian Hua.
Although no property damages were reported, the team issued safety advice to the residents and installed warning tapes to keep residents away from the danger zone.
The situation is still being monitored by authorities and residents in high-risk areas were urged to remain vigilant.
