KUCHING: A commendable collaborative effort between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and theThe participants of the beach cleaning programme pose in a group photo. (CENTEXS) saw some 50 participants joining the Love Our Beaches Programme on today.
The programme served as a platform to educate the public on maintaining beach cleanliness while promoting environmental beautification.
“The objective is to preserve and conserve the environment, while also advancing and enhancing tourism potential.
“We aim to protect the marine ecosystem from plastic pollution for the well-being of future generations, and to educate and raise awareness about the importance of coastal water conservation among the community,” said Pasir Panjang Beach Cleaning Programme director Joshua Amir Sibat in a statement.
Meanwhile, CENTEXS manager Mazuyah Anis expressed gratitude for the collaboration.

“This is our small contribution to the community and environmental sustainability.
“As we strive to cultivate good practices, it should start with ourselves. Even without such programmes in the future, we should know our roles, and pick up any litter we see,” she said.
