KUCHING: The Anugerah Kecemerlangan Media KPKT 2026 (AKeMEDIA KPKT) has returned for its fourth edition, continuing its role in recognising the contribution of journalists in shaping public understanding of key national policies.
Organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), the award honours media practitioners whose work highlights areas such as housing development, local government, solid waste management, urban sustainability and the role of fire and rescue services.
Open to a wide spectrum of the media industry, the awards feature eight categories spanning print, online news portals, television, radio, photography, social media content and digital video platforms, alongside a special award presented by the minister.
Winners of the special award will each receive RM10,000, as well as a trophy and certificate, while category winners stand to take home up to RM3,000.
Entries are open to works published or broadcast between Sept 1, 2025 and Jul 31, 2026, in Malay, English, Chinese or Tamil.
Participation is open to Malaysian citizens working as full-time, part-time or freelance journalists, including stringers.
With closing date for entries set on Aug 5, there is no entry fee is imposed and no limit to the number of submissions.
