KUCHING: Kuching City FC head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, acknowledged that a challenging task awaits his players as they face Brunei DPMM in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup 2025/2026 quarterfinals at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium.
Aidil said the home team will surely take advantage of playing on their home ground to try to secure a victory and reduce the goal deficit.
This will serve as a buffer for the second leg, which will take place in Kuching on February 14.
“Saturday’s match will be tough for us, not only because of the pressure of playing away from home, but also because the starting lineup will be different as many key players are injured,” Aidil told Sarawak Tribune.
However, he said the absence of several key players will not greatly affect the game plan or the strategy to be employed.
This is because, he explained, the substitute players available are capable of taking over the responsibilities when given the chance to play.
“I believe the substitute players can perform their duties well when called upon. What is hoped is that the players remain focused throughout the actual match,” added Aidil.
In the same development, Aidil urged his players to avoid conceding easy goals.
“The goal deficit must also be taken into account as we want to avoid conceding goals easily so it will be easier for us to navigate the home leg later,” he stressed.
