PADAWAN: Lifelong learning is the key to building a knowledgeable community regardless of age or generation.
Deputy Transport (Aviation and Road) Minister, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said society should not be afraid to continue learning and seeking new experiences in order to improve their standard of living.
“Do not give up easily, but instead keep striving for success in the fields you are passionate about.
“Lifelong learning is very important as it creates opportunities, strengthens character, and forms the foundation for the development of a community,” he said at the closing of ‘3L: Lifelong Learning’ Programme, themed ‘Heritage Upheld, Community Empowered’ held here recently.
The programme, organised by the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Women’s Branch in collaboration with the Education, Innovation and Talent Development Ministry (MEITD), aimed to empower the community through knowledge, skills and cultural heritage appreciation in conjunction with DBNA’s 70th Anniversary Celebration.
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, expressed his hope that the ‘3L: Lifelong Learning’ slogan would serve as a community tagline in the pursuit of knowledge and in building a brighter, more sustainable future.
Throughout the programme, various activities were held, including career briefings by Sarawak Skills and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO); a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) carnival by the Sarawak Science Centre; workshops on organic lip balm making and traditional Bidayuh handicrafts; as well as health screenings by Normah Medical Specialist Centre.
